International Study Destinations: A case study of inflow of foreign students in China Rupesh Regmi*, Zhang Zhuo College of Economics and Management Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Nanjing 210016, China Email: regmi@nuaa.edu.cn Abstract The Belt and Road Initiative was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013, with the main aim of promoting economic and cultural ties between China and countries in Asia, Europe and Africa, apart from cooperation in infrastructure building, finance, it also focuses on cultural exchanges within these regions. China is now one of the world’s top study destinations recruiting around 380,000 foreign students in 2014. As China aims to host 500,000 students by 2020, this study attempts to identify all the possible factors that influence international students from Belt and Road countries on choosing Chinese educational institute for further studies and China’s strategy to become a key destination for international students. This paper draws up a logistic regression model which encloses various parameters in students’ choice to decide China as their International destination.
